  1. The book “Nothing” is written by Janne Teller. It is an interesting book. The main character of this book is Pierre Anthon who decides that nothing is matter. He loses his all meaning of life. He is becoming a depressing person. For that reason, his friends tries to make him cheerful. They does lots of things to make him happy or getting the meaning of life but, they fails. For example, when he climbs a plum tree, his friends tries to come down, and also they pelt him with rocks to prove the meaning of life.
It is a very nice book that I will vastly recommend this book to my friends. Also it is a good book for that person who lost their life’s meaning.

  3. Yes, I would agree that is a very interesting book and it created a lot of talk in Scandinavia where I come from when it first came out in Denmark in 2000. However to call it ‘nice’ as one person has here I find very strange and rather worrying.
This book has been called a modern day ‘Lord of the Flies’ which it is in a certain way however I think it is best not to think about that until you have finshed reading the book. I found it horrifying and deeply worrying. I kept on putting down the book as the sacrifices that were demanded became more and more alarming. I would walk away from the book but then have to come straight back to keep on reading. As Janne Teller said herself in an interview on ‘Go’morgen Danmark’ (TV2) (http://video-dyn.tv2.dk/index.php/id-37294817.html) it certainly has no happy ending either. This book gripped me in the way that only a really good book can.
I think this is an excellent book to read. Don’t be put off by the slightly slow pace at the start. This book snowballs as it starts to take over your head and your brain. It gives you plenty to think about and is one that will staying with you for the rest of your life. This is not just a story: this is a real book filled with meaning. (The full meaning of this sentence will be obvious to anyone that has read this fantastic novel.) I really do very strongly recommend this book.

  4. A group of 7th graders collect their most prized possessions in a ‘pile of meaning’ in hope of finding the true meaning of life. Nothing is a gruesome and dark novel with a rather pessimistic outlook on human nature. It suggests that people have gotten too dependent on material wealth, as well as emotional wealth and pride to understand what life really is about. I think this book was especially grim because the characters were all children, who are supposed to be naive and innocent.
As dark as it was, I really enjoyed this book; it made me think twice about human nature, as well as the true importance of material wealth in my life.
