  1. If there is just one book you read this year: choose this one! Especially if you like fast moving, action packed exciting stories. Everyone so far in my school has loved this book.
Occasionally you pick up a book and just know it is going to be fantastic. This one really grabs you, from the moment you see the cover, sucking you into to a plot and characters that almost take over your life and leave you wanting to know more at the end. This is one of those books. It combines fast action, suspense, ninjas, samurais, werewolves (not the Twilight kind) and a nail biting end! What more can you ask for?
Part two is out too – though it is not a Sakura Book!

  2. I don’t usually enjoy sakura medal books, but Wow, what a great book this was!!! I felt that the author took all of the elements a reader wants and demands (e.g. Fitting setting, betrayal, some violence, unpredictability, and a shocking, cliffhanger of an ending), mixed them all up along with some morals, and this was the end product. I loved how every fight didn’t end in the heros’ favours, because this made the story unpredictable. I felt that this story was truly enthralling, and I can’t wait to read the sequels

    • Hi Ben,
Glad you loved the book as much as I did. I put it on the list. It really grabbed me and I told the other teacher-librarians that I would jump off the building if it wasn’t included in this year’s list!
Part 2 is out both in the UK/Australia and the US. The UK/Australian cover is better (similar to part one but in yellow) but the contents are exactly the same. Hope you enjoy part 2 as much as I did too.

  3. I really loved this book too. I really like the Japanese history and Ieyasu Tokugawa is one of my favorite character even though he is cruel too. I would love to read the sequel! What is the name of the second book? I personally think this is the best sakura medal book in this year`s list.

  4. Hi Gautham,
Glad you liked the book. I LOVED it! As soon as I read it, I wanted to put it on the Sakura Book list for this year. Part two of the series is called ‘Blood Ninja 2: Lord Oda’s Revenge’. Hope you have it at your school!

  5. This action – packed story makes the reader read on and on without knowing it. If you like books like Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Harry Potter and other adventure/action stories, this is the book for you.
However, some parts of history were muddled up, but that beside that, loved the story itself.
Looking foward to reading the book 2.

  6. On the day my librarian told me of this book I reluctantly listened. Maybe a week later I took the book to try it. The first pages had immediate action which I normally don’t like, but the weapons were kind of cool. The only part I didn’t really like was how all ninjas were vampires. But that also tied in a western mythical feeling, sort of like me, half in the western world, the other in the eastern world. This book had some of my dreams like ninjas. I approve this book… 🙂

  7. First I wasn’t sure about this book. In the end when I got this book I really liked it. Most books just end with the main character beating the bad guy then the a new bad guy comes. I would like to read the sequel for sure!

  8. This book Is really interesting because it has some western twists such as vampires with past time Japan. I read this book already 2 TIMES!!!!!!! Only bad part is that it is not historically accurate. 😦
