  1. I really liked this book. It is very different from all the other great books by Paul Jennings – so do not expect any dunny humour in this one! This is a young adult book with any doubt.
This is a book that evolves as the novel progresses and becomes finally clear at the end. I liked the fact that it did not a clean, crisp cut ending but it was satisfying. Every strand was cleverly tied up. It is really well written.
I would love to read more books in this style. I read recently in an interview with Paul Jennings in ‘The Age’ (the Melbourne daily newspaper) that he is now planning on writing an adult novel.

  2. An okay book. I rate it 3/5 stars. Definately a young adult book. I thought the dad character was a bit harsh.

  3. This story starts out with a passage that you do not understand. Throughout the novel the author referrs back to this passage, and little by little you start to understand it more. In that sense I think this novel is unique. The main character is kind of dark and full of flaws, but I think because of that we can connect to him more easily. My favorite part of this novel was reading the short stories the main character wrote, because he was actually writing metaphors about the actual plot, and the interpretations were really interesing.
